How to Attract Readers to your Hubs

How to Attract Readers to your Hubs

So you've published a fantastic Hub about something that is bound to have an audience. Now the question is: How do I get more people to read it?
Here are a few methods to bring in readers that we've found work remarkably well. Try them out, check out your Hub stats from time to time to see how they're working, and see if your visitor numbers don't climb.

We Have Five Suggestions:

  1. Write content that others find useful and that people are searching for in search engines.
  2. Email links to people you know.
  3. Post relevant links on your blog(s).
  4. Post relevant links on social bookmarking and media sites like Facebook, Twitter, and Google+.
  5. Be part of the HubPages community, read others' work, and leave detailed, insightful comments on other Hubbers' Hubs!

Useful, Search-Friendly Content

If you create Hubs that are useful, there is a good chance that readers will be looking for them. Unfortunately, just writing a useful Hub might not be enough. In order for your Hubs to be found, you should do a little research to make sure that you are using the terms that people are searching for on search engines like Bing and Google in your Hubs' titles.
We have covered this extensively in the Choosing Topics section of the Learning Center. Choosing a good title; researching your title with the Google Keyword Tool; integrating long-tail search terms into your title and body of your Hub, and writing about evergreen topics (topics that will be relevant for years to come) will help you increase your traffic.

Email Your Hub Links to Your Friends

Probably the easiest way to publicize your Hub is to email it! Think of the people that might find your Hub useful or interesting to read, and let them know about it.
Copy and paste your URL (the web address of your Hub) and send it out to your friends. If you've created a great Hub that your friends will love, pass it on.
Include the full link to your Hub, as well as your referral tracker (optional -- to set up referral trackers in links, visit the My Referral Trackers tab in your My Accountpage). Referral trackers allow your friends to sign up for HubPages and you get 10% of the ad revenue on any Hubs they publish.
Be sure to tell people to pass the email on to other people that might be interested!

Post Links on your Blog(s)

If you have a blog, it can be a great place to promote your Hubs. Writing a post in your blog and linking to a relevant Hub has the potential to bring more readers to your Hub and give you a valuable backlink. Spamming your blog with your Hub URLs won't work though; be sure that your blog entry and your Hub are related and are providing value to your reader. If they aren't providing extra value, it's not a good idea to include the link.
For example, say you write a blog post on a great family barbeque you had over the weekend. You could leave an embedded link to a Hub you wrote about a recipe you used at the barbeque or a review on the type of grill that you used. This is useful to your reader and is relevant!
You can also add a HubPages widget to your blog by visiting My Profile, clicking on the "Add [Your username]'s widget to your website" link, and cutting and pasting the HTML into your blog.

Share Relevant Links on Social Media Sites

Sharing links on Facebook, Google+, and Twitter is a relatively easy thing to do, but often overlooked. Social bookmarking sites allow you to submit a link to a Web page that you think is cool.
If you feel like your Hub is relevant to your friends on Facebook or followers on Twitter, post it! Be sure to use a little self-restraint though, if you're constantly posting your own Hubs and are not a valuable part of the community, your friends won't be too happy. When posting on Twitter, be sure to use hashtags after your post to add some relevancy and contribute to trending dialogues. Hashtags are the # sign followed by the category where your Hub fits.

Be A Part of the HubPages Community

Many Hubbers get most of their traffic from the HubPages Community. Following other Hubbers, interacting in the forums, reading other Hubs, and leaving insightful comments will help you gain readership in the community. HubPages has an amazing community of writers; why not be a part of it?

Thanks for the tips. It takes a bit of leg-work for the first few weeks, but really help pave the road for all of your future posts.
