Graphic Design Internship

GRAPHIC DESIGN INTERNSHIP

An Internship is a system organized especially to give an on-the-job training to professional careers. It is a ground that provides practical experience for beginners in a given field or occupation and it is usually specified for students and college graduates or those that want to have a career change and would like to gain knowledge in their field of interest.
There are two types of internship which may be paid, unpaid or partially paid. Internships are a good way to get a head-on knowledge before delving into the main profession and so does an internship in graphics design. The experience an individual gains from a graphic design internship is always invaluable and is a good start to a career in graphic design.
Graphic design internships can come in various forms such as a design studio, nonprofit organization, ad agency, financial institution, etc. There are a lot of opportunities available to qualified candidates. The basic qualifications of a good graphic designer include creativity, good communication skills, flexibility and problem-fixing skills.
Before you go to an internship in graphic design consider taking courses in 2D and 3D design, branding and identity, web applications, logo designing, packaging, print and editorial design and other related courses. And be sure to get conversant with such applications as Adobe Illustrator, Pagemaker, Photoshop and other related software application. Be sure to include the courses you have taken in your résumé or curriculum vitae before you apply for an internship program in graphic design.
Having a career in graphic design could open up several opportunities of job for such as Commercial designing, Advert Designing, Animation, Desktop Publishing, etc.  Joining graphic internships can give you a lot of experience while developing your skills.  They can boost your resume and enable you get jobs faster and quicker.
When you start a new internship program in graphic designing ensure you follow instructions to the latter. Keep in mind that you are going to there to get a head-on knowledge and thus humble yourself.  When you are posed with challenges that seem unreasonable don’t be afraid to ask questions. The key is to be respectful while doing so and avoid over-stepping your boundaries.
Try as much as possible to develop good relationships with people in the firm where you take on the internship. Build contacts there that you can use in future to your advantage.
Participating in an internship program is much more effective in educating you in graphic designing than does just a mere classroom tutoring. You need to join one to help you achieve and aim higher as a graphic designer.
There are things you have to take note of before preparing for a graphic design internship.

Preparing for a Graphic Design Internship

Organize a portfolio that outlines your talents and skills as a designer. Ensure it is as detailed as possible. When preparing it, you can find help from people who are in the know such as your teacher or a mentor. Have them review your work and point out corrections if necessary. This should be done before going for an interview.
Discuss your interests with your teachers and have them point to you the opportunities and process involved in joining an internship program. Note that your portfolio should display your work to the best of your ability. Build a website or blog about yourself displaying works you have done for people.
Before joining a program decide if you want a paid one or a non-paid internship. Often times, internship programs that do not pay tend to offer you more opportunities of  developing your skills.
Apart from off line search for internship programs, you can search online for internship programs  such as Career Builder, Craigslist, Coroflot, Authentic Jobs, etc or yet still you can look at internship postings in your department and apply for any one you are interested in.

Photography : Animation Basics

In the field of traditional photography, much effort has been expended toward the goal of producing sharp images of fast-moving objects. In the field of animation, the opposite problem arises. If each frame in a sequence depicting a moving object portrays the object as a sharp image, then the motion may appear jerky. However, sharp images are a natural byproduct of creating frames as individual images of stationary objects in a screen graph. Thus, animators often artificially distort the image of a moving object in a computer-generated frame. One technique, called supersampling, is to produce multiple images in which the moving object is only slightly displaced and then to overlay these images to produce a single frame. Another technique is to alter the shape of the moving object so that it appears elongated along the direction of motion.

Computer Graphics : 3D Graphics Part 1

Filled under:

Computer graphics is the branch of computer science that applies computer technology to produce and manipulate visual representations. It is associated with a wide assortment of topics including the presentation of text, the construction of graphs and charts, the development of graphical user interfaces, the manipulation of photographs, the production of video games, and the creation of animated motion pictures. Computer An Overview by J. Glenn Brookshear.
In Modern times, the word Computer Graphics can be used in reference to the field called 3 Dimensional Graphics (3D Graphics) and this is the portion we will be majoring on in this article.
With the emergence of digital cameras, the popularity of software for manipulating digitally encoded images has rapidly expanded. This software allows one to edit or "touch-up" photographs by removing spots, blemishes and the dreaded "red eye" as well as cutting and pasting portions from different photographs to create images that do not necessarily reflect reality.
Similar techniques are often applied to create special effects in the motion picture and television industries. In fact, such applications were major motivating factors for these industries shifting from analog systems such as film to digitally encoded images. Applications include removing the appearance of support wires, overlaying multiple images, or producing short sequences of new images that are used to alter the action that was originally captured by a camera.
In addition to software for manipulating digital photographs and motion picture frames, there is now a wide variety of utility/application software packages that assist in producing two-dimensional images ranging from simple line drawings to sophisticated art. (A well-known elementary example is Microsoft's application called Paint.) At a minimum, these programs allow the user to draw dots and lines, insert simple geometric shapes such as ovals and rectangles, fill regions with color, and cut and paste designated portions of a drawing.
Note that all the above applications deal with the manipulation of flat two dimensional (2D) shapes and images. They are therefore examples of two related fields of research. One is 2D graphics, the other is image processing. We will continue more on Computer Graphics on our next article
